Internal vs. External
When we are born, we have no limitations of awareness. We are open, present, connected. We don’t judge, we don’t limit, we don’t lie—we exist in a state of truth and oneness.
Over time, as we grow we begin to buy into the limitations of this reality: the beliefs of our parents, family, peers, and society. One of the biggest limitations is taking things at face value rather than looking at what lies beneath the surface. For example, assuming we know someone just by their appearance, or judging an opportunity solely by what’s immediately visible.
The physical world is a fraction of the whole picture. What we’re often trained to do is ignore the internal dimension of things. Some call this not trusting our intuition—I prefer to say not trusting our knowing. We look only at the body to judge the soul, or only at the facts on paper to judge an opportunity, without looking deeper and asking what comes up for us internal with it.
This week brings a powerful opening to shift that pattern: to move away from evaluating only the external and to instantly include awareness of the internal. We’re in the month of Libra—a zodiac sign often associated with surface-level beauty. While that may seem like a “weakness,” it can actually be a strongness. Libra energy gives us the chance to retrain ourselves to value the internal as much as the external, and ultimately to see the whole picture. Not excluding one or the other.
Imagine looking at a person, situation, or opportunity and seeing it fully—not just its surface, but its essence. That’s actually your natural ability. It’s only years of conditioning that have taught us to prioritize the external. This week, we reclaim our ability to see the big picture and to recognize our truth.
A simple way to practice: pause and ask, What is really happening here? What is this person offering me? What truth am I afraid to see?
